The German textile association (Gesamtmasche) is optimistic about its forecast for the upcoming organic cotton harvest for the 2023/24 season. Together with its partner Sodefitex, it expects a yield per hectare of up to 850 kg. This is a breakthrough for the activities around the Farmers Field Schools that the Sentex partners have been implementing since the beginning of the year on the axis of Missira, Koussanar and Koungheul[see image below] in six communities. The use of neem oil and soap (Blacksoap) for pest control is clearly noticeable compared to conventional cotton. Already, more than 500 new farmers have registered for the next season 2024/25. The advantages of organic production are bearing fruit.
