Thanks to the support of the GIZ Invest for Jobs program, which operates in eight African countries, a delegation of African private companies and partners from the textile sector from Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Morocco and Senegal attended Munich Fabric Start on 2 and 3 September 2025. During the fair, there was a lively exchange with European market players at the joint Invest for Jobs stand. The members of SENTEX were surprised by the great curiosity and openness of the German textile industry towards Africa (buyers, suppliers, production of clothing, yarns, fabrics, B2B opportunities).
The delegation attended the anniversary celebration of Dialog Textil-Bekleidung e.V., where they were welcomed with a genuine Bavarian surprise and numerous opportunities to exchange ideas with local German and European companies.
Following the trade fair, the delegation extended their stay to establish contacts and exchange ideas with renowned buyers. The visit to the Hohenstein Group Institute provided an opportunity to hear insightful presentations by experts on the topics of certification at Hohenstein and Fairtrade Germany.
During the panel discussion ‘Sourcing in Africa – Growth Opportunities’, a clear message emerged: Africa is ready to transform with a young and innovative workforce – prepared to take on new challenges.
By learning from past experiences in Asia, we can shape Africa into a truly sustainable sourcing destination.
